USA MEDIA NEWS: Lady Gaga's boyfriend Taylor Kinney has revealed that he fell for the singer because she reminded him of his mother.
The 31-year-old 'Vampire Diaries' star opened up about the 'Poker Face' hitmaker and put the comparison between his lover and his mother down to their strong characteristics.
Lady Gaga is known for her political activism, not only using her songs as a platform to promote her ideologies but also leading marches for issues like gay rights.
"She works incredibly hard and is very strong and inspirational like mom, with a great work ethic," the Daily Mail quoted Kinney as telling the Sun.

According to him, Gaga's powerful stance on these issues is obviously part of the attraction.

USA MEDIA NEWS: Holly Madison is happily expecting her first child with beau Pasquale Rotella, and now it is revealed that she is expecting a baby girl.
Rotella was posting on Twitter when he let the news slip that they will be welcoming a daughter, states UsMagazine.com. “Off to Amsterdam and I already miss my girls,” Rotella commented on Twitter along with a picture of Madison and the sonogram of their baby.
Madison previously commented that the two had found out the news but were keeping it to themselves for now. It looks like Rotella just couldn’t hold the secret in any longer.

African painted dogs kill young boy at Pittsburgh Zoo
USA MEDIA NEWS: A group of African painted dogs killed a boy who fell into their exhibit today at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
Barbara Baker, the zoo's president, said the child was around 3 years old.
He "fell off an observation deck that's about 14 feet above the exhibit," she said, "and was killed by the dogs."
"Our emergency teams and our Pittsburgh police responded immediately, but there wasn’t anything that could be done," added Baker.
The boy fell into the enclosure at 11:45 a.m., and visitors quickly alerted staff, the zoo said in a statement. A zookeeper moved seven of the 11 dogs out of the exhibit, and a Veterinarian Department member shot darts trying to scare away the remaining dogs.
"Unfortunately, the dogs were in pack mentality and not responding," the zoo said.
Zookeepers, meanwhile, entered the exhibit to try to lure the dogs away, but they could not reach the boy in time. The keepers and Pittsburgh police officers continued efforts, too, to lure away the dogs, and "one aggressive dog was shot and killed by an officer," according to the zoo.
The Pittsburgh Zoo and the associated PPG Aquarium are closed until further notice.
African painted dogs are among the most endangered dog species in the world, with less than 5,000 left in the wild, according to the zoo. The zoo has a breeding program.

Each is about the size of a small German shepherd, Baker said.

Acer warns Microsoft that hardware is like 'hard rice'

USA MEDIA NEWS:The Taiwanese PC maker compares computer manufacturing to food as it again criticizes Microsoft for making its Surface tablet, according to a report.

Acer warns Microsoft that hardware is like 'hard rice'
Acer is pretty peeved with Microsoft's hardware push, and it continues to let the software giant know it.
The latest comments from the Taiwanese computer maker continue to criticize Microsoft's recent push to compete with its hardware partners.
According to a rough translation from Google, Linxian Lang, Acer's manager of Greater China operations, compared making hardware to food. He called the area "hard rice" that's "not so easy to eat."
Of course, the translation is riddled with errors, but the general sentiment is clear -- Acer thinks Microsoft should stick to what it does best (software) and let Acer and the other hardware makers build the actual products that run Windows.
Microsoft earlier this year introduced a self-branded tablet, dubbed Surface, that runs on its Windows RT operating system, and it reportedly is considering making its own smartphones. Such products are a threat to companies like Acer, who are struggling to appeal to consumers in a world that's increasingly moving toward smartphones and tablets.
Acer, in particular, has suffered as its big bet on netbooks flounders and as consumers continue to hold off on PC purchases. The company has posted steep declines in recent quarters, with its global shipments falling 10 percent year-over-year in the third quarter, according to Gartner, and its shipments in just the U.S. tumbling a whopping 28 percent over the same period.
Acer late last month said it was delaying the release of a Windows RT tablet because it remains wary of competing with Microsoft's Surface.

The launch comes during the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the superstorm that's destroyed homes and left countless people without power.

"We are especially pleased to be launching this test now -- when so many people are looking for new ways to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, or assist those most in need around the holidays," said Facebook's Jared Morgenstern.

iPad Mini sells out quickly at Apple's top NYC store

USA MEDIA NEWS: Despite indications of smaller than usual crowds around the globe, the iPad Mini is already sold out in one key New York store.

While Apple is expected to sell far less iPads this weekend than it did with its tablet launch earlier this year, one of the company's major stores is already sold out.

Apple's "cube" store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, sold out of both iPad Mini models in about two hours. The white model sold out first, analyst Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets wrote in a note this morning, followed about an hour later by the black.

"We believe these early stock outs are driven by the combination of strong demand, combined with a shortage of supply due to the constraints we discussed during our recent Asia Technology Tour," White said, adding that the sellout is "driving customers to buy the fourth generation iPad," which also went on sale today.

New York is currently recovering from extensive damage from Hurricane Sandy, which has left major portions of the city with water damage and without electricity. Nonetheless, lines gathered outside the Fifth Avenue store ahead of the launch. The company's retail locations in SoHo and West 14th Street remain closed, while the other three stores in the region opened up two hours late.

White estimates that Apple will sell 800,000 to 1 million Minis during its launch weekend. The numbers are similar to ones put out by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster earlier today that pegged Mini sales at 1 million to 1.5 million units, a number that could grow larger including fourth-generation iPad sales.

As a frame of reference, Apple sold 3 million iPads during the launch weekend of the third-generation model earlier this year, a release that matched up with the annual cycle the company set up with previous models. Apple broke that with the surprise announcement of a fourth-generation model with newer internals and a Lightning port at its event in late October.

Apple is expected to announce initial sales numbers of the device, which launched in 34 countries today, early next week.

USA MEDIA NEWS: The Girls Aloud star has reportedly undergone tests after having three potentially cancerous moles removed last Wednesday (17.10.12) - just two days before the group announced their greatest hits album 'Ten' and comeback tour - at a London Hospital and is now anxiously awaiting the results this week.
Although the blonde beauty is "stressing" over the situation she has been reassured that things are looking very hopeful and that doctors believed they have removed the blemishes in time and do not think she will need any further treatment.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "This is an incredibly stressful time for her. It's early days and the doctors are very positive - but the word 'cancer' is terrifying to hear and Sarah is naturally stressing about it."
Luckily for the 30-year-old pop star she has been able to rely on the support of her Girls Aloud bandmates - Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts.
The four girls have told Sarah not to worry too much about the tests and instead try and focus on their tour.
The source added: "The girls are completely behind her. Some of the fans have suggested she hasn't been enthusiastic about the tour, but the girls have told her not to stress because she'll only run herself down and make herself sick."
In October 2011, Sarah checked into rehab to be treated for alcoholism and a dependence on sleeping pills.

USA MEDIA NEWS: Chris Brown will remain under supervised probation for assaulting former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 but has been given permission to go on a world tour by a judge.
However, the 23-year-old rapper was told he must return to court for a progress report when he finishes the tour, the Mirror reported.
The judge did not address questions raised at a previous hearing about whether the 'Kiss Kiss' hit maker had completed the terms of his community labour sentence.
In September, officials in Brown's home state of Virginia had reported that he had completed 6 months of community service.
But at that time the judge had called those records "somewhat cryptic."
Brown was dressed in black shirt, black tie and silver braces for the hearing and is scheduled to return to court on January 17.

China's disgraced Bo Xilai trapped in legal limbo: lawyers
USA MEDIA NEWS:  - Two lawyers for disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai said on Monday they had no idea when his trial might start and that he was stuck in legal limbo despite the opening of a formal criminal investigation into accusations of graft and abuse of power.

Bo, once a contender for top leadership in the world's second largest economy, was ousted in China's biggest political scandal in two decades.

His wife, Gu Kailai, and his former police chief, Wang Lijun, have both been jailed over a scandal that stems from the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood while Bo was Communist Party chief of the southwestern city of Chongqing.

The government has accused Bo of corruption and of bending the law to hush up the murder. Prosecutors formally began a criminal probe into Bo last month but have yet to announce charges.

Two lawyers hired by Bo's family, Li Xiaolin and Shen Zhigeng, told Reuters that nearly two weeks after the official announcement of the criminal investigation, they had not been given permission to either see him or represent him.

"Of course not," Shen said, when asked whether he had seen Bo. "The confirmation (I can represent Bo) hasn't been verified. So how can we see (him)?"

Shen said the trial will be after a key Communist Party congress opening on Thursday in Beijing that will usher in a generational leadership change, and which has been overshadowed by the Bo scandal.

"I do not know," Shen said, referring to when the trial may start, but added that it will be "after the 18th Party Congress."

Top party leaders ended a closed-door conclave on Sunday with a decision to formally expel Bo from the party, as a precursor to criminal prosecution.

Beijing-based Li -- who was retained by Bo's mother-in-law, Fan Chengxiu, to represent Bo -- said he had no idea where the trial might be, but dismissed speculation it could be held at the Supreme People's Court in Beijing.

"There's no evidence for it," Li said by telephone.

Li said he was waiting for the state prosecutor, or the Supreme People's Procuratorate, to approve his application to represent Bo.

"Who knows if (they will) agree or not agree, we have to see what the higher ups say," Shen said.

As China's prosecutors and courts come under Communist Party control they are unlikely to challenge the accusations against Bo. The trial of Gu lasted only seven hours, while the trial of Wang lasted two days.

"All I can say is I hope he will be given a fair trial," Li said, when asked what he thought the prospects for Bo's trial would be.

Li was initially supposed to defend Zhang Xiaojun, an aide to the Bo family, who was sentenced to nine years in jail for acting as an accomplice to the poisoning of Heywood. But Zhang had to use government-appointed lawyers during the trial.

Apple: 3M iPads sold over the weekend

Apple: 3M iPads sold over the weekend
USA MEDIA NEWS: An official statement issued by Apple confirmed an announcement Tim Cook made earlier during a conference call claiming that their third-generation tablet enjoyed record sales on a launch weekend. Since the new iPad’s debut on Friday, three million units have been sold, marking the strongest iPad launch ever. The company’s report is in line with AT&T’s recent announcement claiming that the third-generation tablet set new single-day sales and activation records for the second-largest carrier in the U.S.

However, since Apple’s statement didn’t mention presale numbers, it is uncertain if the three million figure included any of the preordered tablets. It should be noted, though, that preordered items aren’t typically counted as sales until they actually ship, suggesting that the final tally didn’t likely include iPads that haven’t arrived to their owners yet. In a similar way, Apple excluded presales from its initial iPhone 4S sales last year.
This year’s launch weekend represents a tenfold leap comparing to sales of the original iPad, which made up 300,000 units on launch day in 2010. The company hasn’t revealed a day-by-day breakdown, but, according to initial projection, over 1 million tablets were sold on launch day alone.
In its statement, Apple says that it has managed to increase the record number of iPads since it simultaneously went on sale in ten countries worldwide. The new device is scheduled to arrive in 24 more countries on March 23, including Austria, Hungary, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, New Zeeland and more.

Russian minister: No need for U.N. resolution to end violence in Syria
(CNN) -USA MEDIA NEWS: Russia insisted a political solution was the only answer to end the bloodshed in Syria, where the death toll mounted on Monday.

Here are the latest developments in the Syrian civil war:

Russian diplomat: 'No need for any type of resolution'

Russia's top diplomat dismissed a call by the U.N.-Arab League special envoy for the Security Council to adopt a resolution calling for a transition of power in Syria.

"If the priority is the change of (the government,) then there will be more blood. But if the priority is to save lives, then there is no need for any type of resolution," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Sunday after a meeting with the special envoy in Cairo.

Lavrov's comments followed news that the special envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi, called on the U.N. Security Council to adopt a resolution calling for a transition of power in Syria that permanent Security Council members agreed upon in June. The resolution, known as the Geneva deal, was put together by his predecessor, Kofi Annan, and called for a transitional government in Syria.

Brahimi's call for the resolution came after a holiday cease-fire he pushed for between government forces and rebels collapsed.

The Geneva agreement did not lay out how power would be transferred, nor did it spell out any role for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who has been under enormous international pressure to step down and end the conflict that began in March 2011.

China and Russia, members of the U.N. Security Council, have repeatedly blocked attempts to adopt a resolution.

Many have accused Russia of backing the Syrian government, but Russia says it just wants a political solution for Syria determined by its own people.

China, meanwhile, has offered a four-point plan to end the war, calling for a cease-fire, plans for political settlement and transition, and international humanitarian aid.

Rebels regroup

Syria's opposition groups began a second day of negotiations Monday in Qatar's capital city of Doha as part of an effort to unify the rebellion.

The move comes after reports that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters that the exiled Syrian National Council should no longer be considered the "visible leader" of efforts to form a government to replace al-Assad, whose iron-fisted attempt to crush anti-government protests has resulted in the bloody civil war.

The United States has recommended people and organizations that should be included, she said -- and the State Department says Robert Ford, the U.S. ambassador to Syria, will be "on the sidelines" of the upcoming Doha talks.

French President Francois Hollande made a similar statement Sunday, saying that the Syrian opposition needs a leader to set up "an interim government through a fair democratic process," the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported.

The negotiations in Doha began after the SNC announced it would elect a new president, replace half of its executive board and expand its membership. The SNC says its meetings are a prelude to talks with other opposition groups later this week.

"Any discussion about bypassing the SNC or forming other alternative entities is an attempt to damage the revolution and sow the seeds of division and discord," the group said in a statement.

Opposition: Two citizen journalists killed

At least 92 people, including two citizen journalists, five women and six children, were killed in fighting Monday across Syria, according to the opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria.

Samer Kreishi was killed in fighting in the Damascus suburb of Arbeen, where government forces and rebels have been fighting sporadically for months, the LCC said.

Another journalist, Nasser Sheikhani, was killed during shelling in Aleppo, Syria's second-largest city, the group said.

The two were described by the LCC as "citizen journalists" who routinely documented violence by government forces with the use of video and photographs, which were then uploaded on YouTube and other social media sites.

More than 33,000 people have been killed since the Syrian conflict erupted in March 2011, the opposition says.

An additional 234 people were reported dead Sunday, including 100 in Damascus and its suburbs alone, the LCC said.

CNN cannot independently confirm government or opposition reports out of Syria, as the government has restricted access by journalists.

Anonymous hacking spree hits PayPal, Symantec

Anonymous hacking spree hits PayPal, Symantec
Anonymous hacking spree hits PayPal, Symantec
USA MEDIA NEWS: The press arm for Anonymous has announced that it has begun its hacking spree for the 5th of November -- Guy Fawkes Day -- and claims to have dumped user and employee account information on accounts from PayPal, Symantec, Australian government Web sites and much more.

Monday's main focus seems to be an anti-surveillance protest -- as with the recent Anonymous October 20 protest -- with November 5th intent aimed at surveillance systems such as TrapWire and INDECT.

Trapwire and INDECT's opponents believe that the surveillance systems to be direct threats to privacy and certain civil freedoms and that their implementation could constitute human rights violations.

According to the various Anonymous Twitter accounts announcing the hacks and linking to document dumps, this is just the beginning of doc dumps and defacements for its day of protest. News of the protest is being shared on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Pastebin. The hacktivists have also included in its Nov. 5th announcements tonight the hacking and defacement of Australian government sites, ImageShack and PayPal (claiming a zero day exploit), Ascension Australia,  NBC.com and Lady Gaga's fan site (claimed for the spree by "Pyknic"), Saturday Night Live's Web site, Australian steel and mining company Arcelor Mittal, homewares website GiftNow, the Greek City website, the Ghana Consulate Web site, and claim to have leaked VMware ESX Server Kernel source code via twitter today.

Anonymous Australia seems to be the most active at this time.

At the same time, the press arm for Anonymous has announced -- via a press release on Pastebin -- that it is rallying the public for an in-person V For Vendetta protest at The Houses of Parliament, at 8 p.m. in London.

Protesters in Canada will get a rude surprise if they don Guy Fawkes masks -- because last week Canada's House of Commons approved a bill that bans people from hiding their faces during riots.

We're watching and following the developments as they happen.
And right now they're happening fast -- and furiously.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney running neck-and-neck in national polls

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney running neck-and-neck in national polls
Barack Obama and Mitt Romney running neck-and-neck in national polls
USA MEDIA NEWS: Barack Obama held rallies in New Hampshire and Florida and carried on to Ohio and Colorado in the evening.
Analysts say the election will come down to a handful of swing states.
Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are running almost neck-and-neck in national polls, but polls of many key battlegrounds show Obama narrowly ahead.
However, neither camp is exuding absolute confidence.
The campaign has been most intense in Ohio, which no Republican has ever lost and still made it to the White House.
On Monday morning, Barack Obama is scheduled to appear in Madison, Wisconsin, accompanied by Bruce Springsteen, before going on to Iowa and Ohio.
Mitt Romney is due in Florida – where polls suggest he is ahead – in Virginia, New Hampshire and Ohio.
A final poll published on Sunday by Ohio’s Columbus Dispatch gave Barack Obama a 2% lead – 50% to 48% – over his rival, within the margin of error.
Both candidates visited the Buckeye State on Sunday, with Mitt Romney telling crowds in Cleveland that Barack Obama has failed in his pledge to be a “post-partisan” president and criticizing his record.
“He’s been divisive, blaming, attacking, dividing and – by the way – it’s not only Republicans that he refused to listen to, he also refused to listen to independent voices.”
Later on Sunday he spoke in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, his first visit there in the final stages of the campaign. Democrats say the Romney team’s last-minute decision to campaign in the state is a sign of desperation, but polls do show a tightening race.
“The people of America understand we’re taking back the White House because we’re going to win Pennsylvania,” Mitt Romney told the crowd in Morrisville.
Barack Obama made another appearance in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Stevie Wonder opened a huge evening rally.
Earlier in the day at a rally in Concord, New Hampshire, Barack Obama said: “We have come too far to turn back now.”
He said he would work across party lines to break the political gridlock in Washington, but would not compromise on priorities such as healthcare and college financial aid.
Activists have been stepping up efforts across the crucial swing states.
In Wisconsin, student volunteers have been putting in 14-hour days in an effort to deliver the state for Barack Obama.
An opinion poll on Sunday for ABC News and the Washington Post put the two candidates at 48%, with even voters who term themselves independents split evenly on 46%.
Mitt Romney remains favored among whites, seniors and evangelical Christians; Barack Obama among women, non-whites and young adults.
The president also remains slightly ahead in most of the nine-or-so swing states that will determine the election.
Opinion polls published on Saturday showed him well-placed in Iowa, Nevada and Ohio, but most remain within the polls’ own margins of error.
The election is run using an electoral college. Each state is given a number of votes based on its population. The candidate who wins 270 electoral college votes becomes president.

South Korea shuts down 2 nuclear reactors after parts scandal

South Korea shuts down 2 nuclear reactors after parts scandal
USA MEDIA NEWS: Seoul, South Korea (CNN) -- South Korea said Monday that it had shut down operations at two nuclear reactors after discovering that they were using parts supplied with forged quality certificates.
Halting the reactors to replace the parts will result in "an unprecedented level" of strain on the nation's power supply as it heads into the winter months, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said in a statement.
The controversy over the products used in the Korean reactors comes amid increased scrutiny of nuclear power worldwide following the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan during the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that hit the country in March 2011.
The unverified parts in South Korea are products like fuses and power switches that don't pose a risk of causing a radiation leak, authorities said.
The plant operator, Korean Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., found that eight suppliers had sold it a total of 7,682 items with forged quality certificates between 2003 and 2012, according to the government. The total value of the products was around 820 million won, or $750,000.
The vast majority of those parts that were put into use went to two reactors at the Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant in the southwest of the country, the government said. Those are the two reactors that are being shut down until at least the end of the year in order to replace all the unverified items.
The two reactors account for about 5% of South Korea's national power supply, according to the government. Their suspension will significantly reduce the amount of energy supply that South Korea holds in reserve each day during January and February.
Temperatures in areas of South Korea regularly drop well below freezing in the winter months.
The government has called on relevant agencies to enact measures this month to counteract the expected pressure on the power supply from the shutdown of the reactors.

Islamist leader, who offered aid after Sandy, speaks
USA MEDIA NEWS:Someone with that bounty on his head would normally have to be in hiding. Not Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, the leader of Pakistan's Jamaat-ud-Dawa (Party of Truth), considered a terrorist organization by the United States.
Saeed made headlines in the wake of Superstorm Sandy after he offered to send aid to its victims in the United States, which Washington quickly rejected.
"This particular offer strikes us as very hollow," State Department spokesman Mark Toner has said.
India and Washington accuse Saeed of being directly responsible for the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people, and the U.S. government offered the handsome bounty for information leading to his capture.
U.S. declines Pakistani radical's offer to help Sandy victims
Despite his high profile, he says he does not live in seclusion, and he runs 150 madrassas and schools across the country. The U.N. Security Council even published a street address for him in Lahore in 2008.
CNN sat down to record an interview with him in a building across from his home.
But Saeed takes security seriously and required that the crew first meet with one of his men on the outskirts of Lahore then follow him into town. Checkpoints lined the block around his house.
He agreed to the interview with a Western news organization, only because he wanted to talk about his offer to Sandy's victims.
"We have differences with the American government's policies, but the American people are only human; we are all human. It's not their fault," Saeed told CNN.
In a sermon, which can be found on the Internet, he has blasted the West as being the real terrorists.
Saeed has repeatedly denied any involvement with the Mumbai killings or support for terrorism despite accusations he has masterminded numerous attacks.
"I condemn this attack and the innocent lives that have been lost," he said. "I don't support this attack or any violence of this kind, but you don't even seem to believe me; I've said it so many times."
He highlighted charitable activities by Jamaat-ud-Dawa.
The U.S. State Department describes JuD's mission as the establishment of Islamist rule in India and Pakistan.
Saeed softened his stance on Sharia law when speaking to CNN, saying he did not want to impose the strict laws by force but encourage it by raising awareness instead. It was a departure from past radical positions.
To the U.N. Security Council, Saeed's party is synonymous with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, and he is its leader, who also actively supports al Qaeda and the Taliban.
Even Lashkar-e-Tayyiba as denied responsibility for the Mumbai attacks, which saw the Taj Mahal Hotel set alight, according to the Council on Foreign Affairs.
The outlawed group, whose name translates to "army of the pure,"has a reputation for being particularly active in the conflict region of Kashmir. Both India and Pakistan place varying claims on it. China lays claim to a small part of it as well.
India's National Investigation Agency is to carry out inquiries in Pakistan into possible connections with the Mumbai attacks. Saeed told CNN he would speak with them.
He said he has written letters to the U.N. and the European Union in attempts to clear his name, even offering to cooperate with investigations -- to no avail.
Until then, Hafiz Saeed - surrounded by armed guards - says he will continue to provide moral support, but no more, in the cause of liberating Kashmir.
And he will deliver relief aid to the people of Pakistan, as the United States will not accept his offers.
